XBOX 360 Colin McRae: DIRT

Colin McRae: Dirt is this year's new entry in the globally popular Colin McRae Rally series of car racing simulations. This time around, you'll not only be treated to a series of classic rallies, but also off-road races from all corners of the globe that take place on real circuits. Alongside the PC version, which will be fully localised into the Czech language, the original English version for Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms will also be on sale.

The goal of the development team is to build on the realistic design of the game while maintaining the accessible handling of the cars. For Colin McRae: Dirt, a completely new realtime engine was created to simulate crashes. The speed of hitting an object is measured and for each car model, depending on the material and body type, it simulates the extent of the damage. Graphics built on the new engine (NEON) allowed the designers to make the visuals much more realistic, with not only the race cars being affected in crashes, but also the surrounding environment. Everything behaves as it does in reality. Metal bodywork squashes, plastic cracks and plants bend.

You'll be able to choose between a huge variety of locations, including the legendary Pike's Peak International tracks through the Rocky Mountains and a mode dedicated to each of the European, International and World Rally Championships with 2WD and 4WD cars, classic and special RWD rally cars.

More than 40 types of licensed cars in 12 categories will be featured in the game, including the latest Suzuki Swift and Citroen C4 rally cars, but you'll also encounter heavily modified rally-cross cars and 850 horsepower heavyweights. Each car has a detailed modelled interior and several both officially licensed and fictional body colour designs.

The biggest new feature of the series is racing against multiple opponents. While this was partially enabled in previous versions, it did not match the reality due to the separate starts in the actual races. Now you can enjoy joint starts and the associated friction to the fullest.
