Ashes Cricket 2009 is a sports video game developed by Transmission Games and published by Codemasters for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Wii. As the name suggests, this game focuses on the sport of cricket and was released in 2009.
The game features fully licensed English and Australian cricket teams, as well as six other unofficially licensed teams. It also offers the opportunity to play both individual matches and entire tournaments, including the famous series The Ashes, which is between England and Australia.
In Ashes Cricket 2009, players can control either the batsmen or the bowlers. Controlling the bat involves timing and direction of the stroke, while controlling the bowling involves timing and selecting the type of throw.
The Nintendo Wii version of the game uses the Wii Remote motion controls for greater immersion during play. This allows players to execute strokes and throws by moving the controller. The game also offers a multiplayer mode where players can compete against each other either locally or online.
Graphically, Ashes Cricket 2009 is displayed in 3D and has fairly realistic depictions of the players and stadiums. The game also features commentary from well-known cricket commentators including Tony Greig and Jonathan Agnew.
