Prey for PlayStation 4 is a first-person action science fiction game developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks in 2017. Set in an alternate timeline where humanity has come into conflict with an alien race known as the Typhon, the game combines elements of action combat, exploration, survival horror and RPG.

Game description:

The player takes on the role of Morgan Yu, a scientist who awakens on the Talos I space station orbiting the moon. Talos I is a large and detailed station where experiments have been conducted with the alien race Typhon. However, Typhon has escaped from the laboratory conditions and has begun to terrorize the station's crew. Morgan Yu must survive, uncover the secret of his own origin, and find a way to stop the Typhons before they reach Earth.

Gameplay:

The game focuses on exploration, puzzle solving and combat. Talos I is an open world that players can explore at will. The game combines elements of classic action games with elements of immersive sim games, where players are able to approach challenges in a variety of ways - be it direct combat, hacking, silent progression, or using the environment to their advantage.

Morgan can acquire and upgrade various abilities that include both human skills and alien powers gained from Typhons. Some of these abilities include telekinesis, shape shifting, or mind control. These abilities can be combined and used to overcome obstacles or destroy enemies.

Enemies and Challenges:

Typhons are the main antagonists in the game and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Among the most iconic are Mimics, who can transform into any object in the environment, creating constant tension as the player never knows where an attack may come from. Other enemies include Phantoms, who are stronger and more aggressive, or Telepaths, who can control people's minds from a distance.

The game also includes survival elements such as managing limited resources, including ammunition, medical supplies, and raw materials that can be used to create new items using the recyclers and fabricators that are scattered throughout the station.

Graphics and Sound:

"Prey" boasts a visually striking design that combines a retro-futuristic aesthetic with modern sci-fi elements. The Talos I station is detailed, with a variety of environments that include laboratories, living areas, engineering spaces and more. The game's atmosphere is complemented by a high-quality sound design that enhances the feeling of tension and isolation.

Story and Decision:

The game's story is non-linear and depends on the decisions the player makes during gameplay. Players can influence the fate of different characters, decide on moral dilemmas and ultimately choose between different endings that depend on their actions.
