Assassin's Creed: Rogue was originally released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2014, but a remastered version was later released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in March 2018. Developed by Ubisoft, this game presents a unique story within the Assassin's Creed series as players take on the role of Shay Patrick Cormac, a former member of the Brotherhood of Assassins who turns against his former brothers and becomes a Templar. Set in the mid-18th century during the Seven Years War, Assassin's Creed: Rogue explores locations such as the North Atlantic, the cold waters around Newfoundland, the Appalachian Valley and New York City.

The game introduces new elements to the series, including the ability to sail on the Morrigan, which is smaller and more maneuverable than ships from previous games such as Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. This allows players to explore vast naval environments, fight naval battles and take part in ice cruises in the Arctic Ocean. On land, players can use new tools and weapons, including air rifles and special grenades, which expand stealth and combat options.
