Rock Band is a music video game franchise that has been developed and released for various gaming platforms, including PlayStation 2 (PS2). The Rock Band series allows players to create a virtual rock band where each player controls one musical instrument (guitar, bass, drums and vocals) and plays their favourite songs together.

The main goal of the game is to mimic real instrument playing and singing to different songs as closely as possible. Players use special peripherals such as plastic guitars, basses, drums and microphones that are connected to the console. While playing, "notes" are displayed on the screen coming towards the players, who must press the appropriate buttons on the instrument in time to play the song accurately.

Rock Band offers different difficulty levels and modes of play, including a career mode where players progress from smaller clubs to large festivals, collecting money to upgrade their instruments and gaining fans. The game also features a wide selection of songs from different genres and eras, allowing players to choose songs to suit their preferences.
