The story follows the adventures of Minamoto Yoshitsune, who seeks revenge on her father.

The player controls either Yoshitsune or Benkei, and both characters are equipped with two basic attacks: Normal and Special.

Yoshitsune is a vicious and skillful warrior who is quick to invent what he lacks. He is capable of jumping onto small platforms (which will collapse if Benkei jumps on him ). He wields dual swords and can also use his sword to get "stuck" on a ledge and then jump again, allowing him to double jump.

Benkei is a stronger but slower character with more range than Yoshitsune. He uses 2 types of weapons, large warhammers and long Fauchards, which can also be used to destroy certain structures and heavy doors in the game.

There are two ways to upgrade your character: By leveling up defeated enemies normally, or by using the Essence of Amahagane to upgrade certain stats. Both methods are independent of each other.
