Tekken Tag Tournament is the first of three installments in the series to be released for the Playstation 2. It features all the popular characters from the previous three installments (30 characters in total) and features a new "Tag" combat system. This consists of choosing 2 characters to fight and then switching between them during the battle. While you fight with one character, the other can regenerate wounds to some extent.

Tagging is a very interesting feature that brings a tactical element to the game and also allows for group combo strikes when switching characters. The game is slightly slower than subsequent Tekkens and thus again significantly more tactical. This is the title that sold more worldwide than Tekken 4 and Tekken 5 combined.
