PS2 Shadow of the Colossus

 

Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2 is a title long thought to be a direct sequel to the cult title ICO, which turned out to be a misconception. While the two games have a lot in common, there is no direct connection between them. SotC, for example, has a similarly fragile atmosphere, the same strong emotional charge, and the same stylish presentation as ICO. Otherwise, however, SotC is a brand new title with original gameplay mechanics and characters. The story of SotC revolves around a young girl whose dead body is placed on the back of her horse by her boyfriend in the middle of a completely empty plain, and with this cargo she sets off for a mysterious shrine. Here he learns that the girl can only be revived by slaughtering gigantic creatures. Only then, it is said, will the girl's spirit return to her body. The creatures can take different forms, which also determine their characteristics. Some are clever, some are fast and some are strong. Their destruction is not easy, given their size. The protagonist always has to find his way to one or more weak spots on the huge body of these creatures and line up there with his sword. In his fight he is helped only by his trusty horse, whose control is another original game element. Shadow of the Colossus is one of the titles that shouldn't be missing from any PS2 owner's game library, as its atmosphere, graphics and music belong to the Playstation's golden fund.
