Final Fantasy VII for PS1 is a 1997 RPG developed by Square for the PlayStation console. It is the seventh installment in the Final Fantasy series. The game's story follows a hero named Cloud Strife, a mercenary who joins an eco-terrorist organization to stop a world-dominating megacorporation from using the planet's life essence as a source of energy. Events send Cloud and his allies on a quest to save the planet from destruction. Along the way, Cloud builds close friendships with its members, including Aerith Gainsborough, who holds the secret to saving the world.

Final Fantasy VII is mostly comparable to previous Final Fantasy titles and Japanese RPGs. The game features three game modes: world map, playfield, and battle screen. Players explore the entire world of Final Fantasy VII on a 3D world map. The world map is dotted with representations of areas the player can enter, including cities, environments and ruins. Natural barriers - such as mountains, deserts and bodies of water - block access on foot to some areas.As the game progresses, the player is given vehicles to help overcome these obstacles.
