PS1 Bomberman Party Edition, known in Japan and Europe as simply Bomberman, is the PlayStation version of the 1983 Bomberman game. In addition to retro graphics for the single-player mode, the option to play with enhanced graphics is added.

The single-player mode is very similar to the 1983 release of Bomberman. The player controls Bomberman in a wide area, filled with destructible and non-destructible blocks. Blocks can be destroyed by bombs and can contain a power that increases Bomberman's walking speed, the size of bomb blasts, the number of bombs that can be placed, or the ability to explode your bombs with the press of a button. Some upgrades are temporary, allowing Bomberman to be immune to bombs or monsters.

The goal of each level is to destroy all the monsters and then find the door, which is located under a random block.

After every few levels, the player can play a bonus level.
